The Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Commercial Electrical Technology is designed to provide and prepare students for advancement or career opportunities in electrical technology field.

The electrical industry offers a wide array of career opportunities for the well-trained electrician or electrical technician. The LIT Commercial Electrical Technology program provides students in-depth training for each of the three broad areas of the electrical industry, including:

  • Residential Electrical Wiring
  • Commercial Electrical
  • Industrial Electrical

Students will master wiring a residential single-family home; installation of large switchgear, conduits, wiring and data systems in a multi-million dollar commercial building; system installation, analysis, design, and troubleshooting of an industrial automated control system with Programmable Logic Controller's, and Variable Frequency Drives. Commercial Electrical program graduates are prepared for a wide range of employment opportunities.

The Commercial Electrical Technology Program is a 2-year "hands-on" technical program with emphasis given to preparing graduates to become certified electricians by attaining Journeyman Electrical Certification.

Potential Job Titles include but not limited to:

  • Residential, Commercial or Industrial Electrician
  • Maintenance Electrician
  • Electrical/Electronic Technician
  • Utility Lineman

All courses in the Recommended Program of Study require a grade of "C" or better.
