Our mission statement is in alignment with our strategic initiatives. Strategic goals are set to address each of our six strategic initiatives:

  1. Strengthen Student Success and Support Services
  2. Expand and Align Academic Programs With Regional Needs
  3. Elevate Experiential Learning and Career Readiness
  4. Forge Strategic Partnerships and Community Engagement
  5. Invest in Faculty and Staff Excellence
  6. Scale Facilities and Technology for Innovation

Core Values

Lamar Institute of Technology embraces seven Core Values.

Integrity

We keep our promises and use evidence to improve. We steward resources with integrity and report results clearly.

Student-Centered

We deliver student-centered technical education grounded in hands-on, skills-based instruction. Classrooms, labs, and clinicals align with industry standards and lead to credentials of value and career advancement.

Engagement and Access

We remove barriers so every learner can start, stay, and finish. We provide flexible pathways, advising and wraparound supports, and recognition of prior learning to increase momentum and completion.

Partnerships

We co-create programs with employers, K-12, universities, and the community to meet Southeast Texas workforce needs. We expand internships, apprenticeships, and transfer pathways that connect learners to high-skill, high-wage careers.

Talent Pipelines

We grow the regional talent pipeline with clear pathways into high-demand fields. Work-based learning and employer-aligned credentials lead to placement and wage gains.

Innovation

We pursue practical innovation in programs, pedagogy, and operations. We adopt modern technology and processes that improve learning, services, and regional impact.

Readiness

We prepare people and places for real-work performance. Modern equipment, safe habits, and regular training support resilient operations across labs, clinics, and classrooms.

These values shape how we serve students and Southeast Texas, how we partner with employers and communities, and how we steward resources to deliver student-centered technical education, credentials of value, and career advancement.
