The Department of Technology offers a variety of programs that result in a Certificate or Associate of Applied Science Degree. Programs at the Associate of Applied Science Degree include: Advanced Engine Technology A.A.S. (DMT) , Analyzer Technology A.A.S. (ANLZ) , Commercial Electrical Technology A.A.S. (ELPT) , Computer Drafting Technology A.A.S. (CDT) , Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning A.A.S. (HVAC) , Industrial Mechanics A.A.S. (IMT) , Instrumentation Technology A.A.S. (INST) , Mechatronics A.A.S. (MECH) , Process Operating Technology A.A.S. (PT) , and Welding Technology A.A.S. (WLDT) . Programs at the Certificate award include the Advanced Engine / Diesel Certificate (DMC) , Analyzer Technology Certificate (ANLC) , Air Conditioning Certificate (RAC1) , Commercial Electrical Technology Certificate (CETC) , Electrical Technology Certificate (ELPC) , Electronic Instrumentation Certificate (ISTC) , Industrial Mechanics Certificate (IMTC) , Plumbing Technology Certificate (PFPB) , Process Operations Certificate (PTC) , Utility Line Technology Certificate (ULTC) , Structural Welding Certificate (WLDQ) , and Pipe Welding Certificate (WLDP) . The department also offers a transferable Engineering A.S. (ASE) degree.
Each program is designed to prepare students for jobs in high demand areas with "real world" training. Technology students get a true hands-on experience in the classroom. Lamar Institute of Technology also requires students to register for the College Success Skills Course (DORI 0200 ) in their first semester. The course is designed to provide students with a thorough orientation to the campus, postsecondary education, and the classroom skills necessary for success. Students that transfer fifteen semester credit hours (15 SCH) of academic courses from an accredited postsecondary institution with a GPA of 2.0 may be exempt from the College Success Skills Course.
All program specific courses in the recommended program of study in the Department of Technology require a grade of 'C' or better.
